Lazy Sunday

This outfit shoot is a much needed departure for me. I'm not always glamorous and I'm not interested in giving that impression. Most of the time around my house I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal. I figured this would be a good week to showcase my style at home. I think the weather agreed with me because it rained all weekend in Nashville and I couldn't have taken an outside photo if I wanted to. Also, the rain makes me super lazy and I had no desire to get gussied up on Sunday. So this is a little sneak peek into my living room and my bummy attire.
You may recognize this sweater from this post. It remains one of my favorite wardrobe pieces and yes, I know I match my couch. The blanket on the couch was actually crocheted by my grandma as a gift to my parents on the occasion of their wedding. Since the blanket is SUPER 70s my parents had it hidden away in a closet, and when I asked for it they kindly passed it my way. Knowing that my Bubbie spent days making it for such a happy occasion makes me love that blanket even more. Maybe I like the sweater so much because it reminds me of the blanket? What would Freud say?
This lovely cat shirt was a birthday present from my dear friend Jen and her darling boy Sam. I received the shirt on Saturday night and I couldn't wait to put it on Sunday morning. It is so soft and it is the perfect length. I've been digging longer Ts lately. Also, PIRATE CAT?! My friends know me so well.
I hope you all had a good weekend! Despite the torrential rain I enjoyed myself. On Saturday I got to hang out and learn some sewing skills from the lovely Lauren of Lladybird. She is a kick-ass lady and a really impressive seamstress. Since one of my Birthday presents was a sewing machine *SQUEE* she was kind enough to show me the ropes, outfit me with some basics and get me started. We went to Textile Fabric where I got lots of cat prints. Expect to see many skirts with adorable kitties on them. Lauren is so inspiring and she made me feel that I could sew ANYTHING. Gosh, I have my own personal sewing cheerleader. Pretty nifty, eh? I set up my machine Sunday night and we're becoming fast friends. I want to name her, but she hasn't told me what she wants to be called yet.
Saturday night was complete with Birthday festivities. Big thanks to my lovely Steve who organized everything. I told him I didn't want to fuss with my birthday and I wasn't in the mood to plan it (I get really stressed out planning events- especially events that focus on me). So he took the reigns and really came through. We had a lovely dinner at my favorite panty-dropper City House followed by a night at my favorite local bar, The Village Pub and Beer Garden. All of my favorite people popped by and I felt so loved. Also, we played some Cards Against Humanity and I realized why I love everyone so much- dirty minds. Thank you to everyone who made my birthday so special. 30 will be a very good year, I know it.

T-Shirt: Gift from Jen and Sam

  3. I like your U & Me on the wall. Everytime I see those letters at the flea market...I want them...but I am indecisive and have no idea what letters I want.

    1. I also have a few more random letters but they haven't found a home in my house yet. I'm hoping if I keep collecting them I'll have a full sentence at some point. I think I keep that guy at the Flea in business.

    2. well if you ever wish to unload letters...I am SOOOOOOOOOO down. I have 2 k's scattered around my bedroom...but refuse to get a third to evade racist connotations. :) I would love a giant question mark...or a J.

    1. Thank you! It is a work in progress. I lived in that house for 2 years before I did anything with it. I'm a VERY slow decorator.

  7. Love the shirt (pirate cat for the win) and that your sweater matches your Bubbe-made afghan (both in color and swagger, I might add!). Good luck with your sewing adventures! Rah!

  8. wow I adore your wall. I would love a vintage deer head trophy. I turned 30 last year and at the time I was dreading it but I am pleased to say so far my 30's are treating me much better than my late 20's!
