Ready for Take Off!

Happy Monday Everyone! I had quite the busy weekend- just the way I like it. It always seems that as the weather starts getting warmer I have more things to do. I wish the winter kept me as busy! Perhaps I wouldn't hate the dark days so much if I had awesome plans. But I think most people are like me and they just prefer to hibernate.

On Friday night Steve's band Scale Model played a show at the High Watt with Tipper Whore. It was a great show and I was so happy that so many of my friends came to check out the bands. Nashville has a such a great local music scene!
I've been looking forward to Saturday for MONTHS! It was the Porter Flea at the recently closed Cornelia Fort Airpark. I was really excited for this one because of the new location. The airpark is super close to my house and it has plenty of open space. The previous Porter Fleas were held at Marathon Music Works, which is lovely, but the Porter Flea has outgrown it. The new location allowed people to walk around freely, find parking, and spend more time looking at all the awesome hand-made goodies.

Of course I picked up a few things as well and got to see some of my favorite people. I love that I have so many talented friends that sell their wares at Porter Flea. But don't worry, there will be a whole post up soon on all the goodies!
Sunday also contained much awesome as Steve took me to see Hall and Oates at the Ryman. I've always wanted to see them but I've never had the opportunity. Right before the second time Steve and I ever hung out, he took pictures of a Hall and Oates concert at the Ryman and I told him how jealous I was. He promised me he would take me to see them and boy, does that man make good on his promises. The show was awesome, BTW.
So I got this dress in the mail from eShakti and I thought it would be a perfect dress to wear to the Porter Flea. Add a few vintage elements to it and BOOM we have an outfit. eShakti is cool because they allow you to customize your clothes. You can change necklines, hems, and sleeves! Also, they ask for all your measurements (including height!) to make sure everything fits right. I have to say I was VERY pleased with this dress. The fit is perfect and I love the fullness of the skirt. Even better, the skirt is fully lined and has pockets! I have a feeling you will be seeing me in this dress more often.
Since this was an old airport, and there was still a runway, I had to pretend to be a plane, right?

  1. The picture of you as an airplane on ye olde Cornelia Fort runway is AMAZING. And I've heard such good things about eShakti and their individual-based sizing that I might have to break down and get one of these adorable vintage-styled dresses in a custom-me size! Also, HALL AND OATES. Jealous.

    1. I was more than pleased with this dress. As a short lady, things don't always fit right and I love the perfect skirt length. I'm a bit modest in my hemlines.

H&O totally rocked my socks off. I HAVE NO SOCKS.

  2. You look adorable as always! <3

I'm excited to see your post on Porter Flea! I applied to be a vendor for this one, but I think I'm still a bit too green--especially a few months ago when they actually were going through applications. It turns out that I wouldn't have been able to make it anyway, though, so it was all for the better. I think I'm going to try again for the winter market, though! I'm determined to make it there! :)

    1. Perhaps we both need to move to warmer climates. I thought Nashville was going to be such a huge change from New York/Boston but it really isn't. The winter is more mild, but it still gets cold enough that you don't want to leave your couch.

  6. I meant to tell you saturday how cute your dress was. SERIOUSLY I need to get on board with Eshakti. I have such a short waist and am so short- I feel like their alterations are something I could really benefit from. Other bloggers seem to have such great things to say about them, they are definitely on my list of places to shop!

Also, cannot wait to see what all treasures you got!

    1. Aww thanks Kimmie!

I picked up a tank top, a print, and a cake. Everything (minus the cake) will probably make it on to the blog eventually!

    1. Gosh! You need to plan your schedules better lady- you can't keep missing out on the goodness.

My one recommendation would be to order your dress well in advance. Since they make them when you order, they take a good bit of time to arrive at your door!
