On Saturday I had the complete thrill of attending a Twin Peaks Themed Art Show and Prom. I am obsessed with Twin Peaks and it was wonderful to spend an evening with people who love it just as much as me. There was lots of fabulous Twin Peaks inspired art as well as a black lodge photobooth. Even some of my favorite burlesque performers did their take on TP. Steve and I also came in 3rd place in the costume contest! I was the log lady and he was my log. (I hope to have some photos of that later). The night even ended with some karaoke at Fran's. Fran's is easily the most Lynchian place on the East Side.
I also have a lot of big personal news going on right now. The reason why I have been so busy and tired all the time is that Steve is moving in! I'm super excited about cohabitation but at the same time a tad bit freaked out because I have never lived with anyone before. Also, moving is VERY stressful. I wish I had some magical house elf help for this. Where is Dobby when you need him?
I wore this outfit on Sunday to get my nails and toes done with some of my best ladies (Jen, Lauren and Meredith). Those girls are so amazing and I'm incredibly thankful to have them in my life. They knew I needed to take a break and relax from all the moving stress. They convinced me to leave the house for a few hours and take some time to myself. It was much needed. Thank you ladies.
I feel like this outfit is very New York of me. Not only because the leggings depict the city skyline, but also the whole feel of it. I love the abstract neon design on the sweater and how it contrasts the photo-realistic tights. I would be very comfortable walking around NYC in this outfit.
I'm wondering if I'm starting to get a bit boring with my outfits. I seem to have discovered my winter uniform: bright tights + big sweater. I don't think there is anything wrong with this combination but I'm beginning to wonder if I'm stuck in a creative rut. I'm sure warm weather will allow me to wear all the skirts that have been hiding in the back of my closet for the last 4 months, but I'm pretty sure I won't give up my winter uniform that easily.
So how about my new glasses?! After my recent dealings with online glasses providers, I decided to go visit my friend Allison at local optical shop called Specs and get some real-deal frames. These beauties are vintage and I love them so much. They are a really pretty steel-blue-gray color and just the right level of loud. And the cat bag? I've seen this sucker all over the interwebs lately and I knew I had to have it. It's so much easier to carry all of your crap when it's being held in a sweet kitty cat. And this cat holds a lot! Inside is a pair of flip flops, wallet, glasses, kindle and an umbrella. Not bad for a sweet kitty face!
Sweater: Modcloth
Tights: Romwe
Shoes: Anthropologie

Glasses: Specs
I love this outfit, the contrast between the leggings and jumper is weird but fantastic. I love the mix of textures! Those glasses look like they were made for you. Congratulations on cohabitation! It can be frustrating at times but it is definitely worth it to wake up next to the person you love xo
ReplyDeleteThank you Alice. It is so nice to hear such positive thoughts on Cohabitation. I think I'll learn to love it once all the boxes are put away and the cats aren't separated any more :)
DeleteThis outfit is awesome! haha.. I love the dobby reference.. I wish for him to come help me everyday.
ReplyDeleteYay for moving in together that's an awesome step. It takes some adjusting and of course making room for all of HIS stuff but you'll get the hang of it.
I love your glasses. I need to go on the hunt for some vintage frames, I bet I would wear my contacts less. :)
Oh thank goodness you got the Dobby reference. I didn't know if anyone remembered poor sweet Dobby. I still tear up thinking about him. RIP DOBBY.
DeleteI was never good at contacts. I got them for the first time last year and I couldn't figure out how to get them to work. I would spend 30 minutes shoving fingers in my eyes. Not fun.
Oh my word you are seriously the cutest! I love this outfit and those new glasses are beyond amazing! I hope the moving gets done quickly and without too much stress!
ReplyDeleteMan I've got to get out to Nashville so we can hangout and play cards against humanity together! Such a fun game!!
Awww you are so sweet! The move is going and I'm seeing progress. It's just not going as fast as I would like- but that is pretty much crazy expectations.
DeleteWhen will you get down to our fair state?! I would love to play CAH with you!
I don't know yet. It looks like we are actually going on another big cross country drive in the springish, so hopefully we can get down near you then!
DeleteOh, my. Those leggings are kind of making my heart melt! Love them!
ReplyDeleteThank you Alex!
DeleteWow. Those leggings are incredible. I can't see that outfit being described as a creative rut at all. It's totally kick ass.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all the moving! It will be fun to have all your stuff (and the two of you) together once you get used to it.
Haha. I guess my idea of a creative rut is different than others. I guess that is a good thing. :)
DeleteThanks for the encouragement!
freaking awesome lady. freaking awesome.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYou're rocking this look! I don't think your outfits could ever be described as boring!! Out of all the bloggers I follow, If I could choose someones wardrobe to steal it would definitely be yours
ReplyDeletehaha Chantal come to the good old USA and steal from my closet :)
DeletePlease?
I wish I could!!!
DeleteYour style is so refreshing! It inspires me to keep being me because I dress super funky (and that's how I LOVE to dress) but sometimes I feel like I might need to "tone it down a bit" so people don't think I'm crazy. Lol, ridiculous!!! Crazy and proud ;) I love your outfits and am really glad I discovered your blog :) I will be following along now!
