Pom Poms, Polka Dots, and a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

Happy Monday folks! I'm enjoying my Monday morning, and despite the gray rain outside, I'm in good spirits. I felt like this weekend was a blur. On Saturday I went to the Sweet Relief bake sale and purchased a whole bunch of goodies. I think they raised $1,700-ish for Sandy relief. When Steve and I stopped by the place was packed and everyone was filling up bags with treats. On Saturday night we went to see My So-Called Band play Weezer's Blue Album and Pinkerton at The Stone Fox. The best part of the evening was finally getting to meet Rae from Say It Ain't So (can you guess why she was there?). She was so friendly and funny! I totally have a major friend crush on her now. I'm so excited that I get to hang out with her and lots of other lovely ladies at the Nashville Blogger Meet-Up tomorrow!
On Sunday Steve and I worked on our secret project (scroll down to see what it is!) and then we did a photo-shoot with two of his friends. They are sisters and wanted to give their Mom a portrait of them for Christmas. They were so cute! I totally loved being the photographer's assistant. (Mostly because I got to hang out with their super awesome dog!). If you are in the Nashville area and are looking to get some really awesome photos taken (Christmas cards, hello?) check out Steve! Shoot him an email if you are interested at stevecrossrock (at) gmail (dot) com.
*** BIG ANNOUNCEMENT TIME***

Guys, can you handle the excitement? Here's the big news: I've decided to open up an Etsy shop! I've been making tons of PomPom stuff the past few months and I just love it. Every time I wear one of my creations out people have asked me where I got them. Some people have just pointed and given the thumbs up. That is incentive enough for me to bite the bullet and open a shop! May I present to you, The BombPom.
I've spent a whole lot of time making tons of super cute Poms. Over the past week Steve and I have done product shoots and yesterday we finally got to do the shoot where I modeled my accessories. I've had so much fun creating over the past few months. I really hope you like my stuff! Also, if you guys have any suggestions or ideas that will help my shop improve- please let me know. Also, I'll take any Etsy advice you might have. I'm an Etsy selling virgin and I want to make sure I'm doing it right, ya know?
Dress: Modcloth
Belt: Super Old
Earrings and Ring: Kelsea Echo
Shoes: Old Red Boots

  1. ooooh yay! opening an etsy shop is so exciting. selling on there is pretty much my favorite thing ever.

your photos are amazing, which is really important. one tip that will likely benefit you is to put way more detail in your titles. they don't have to be pretty sentences, just words that people are likely to search. colors, headband, style, etc. will make a huge difference. you can see examples in my shop (thegingershoppe.etsy.com) of titles, they don't sound like they make sense but they are descriptive and get me way more hits than they did before. oh, and use ALL your tags!

also, check out your stats page regularly to see what people are searching to land on your shop and use that to improve descriptions.

    hope that helps! :)

    1. This was so helpful! You have no idea. I immediately went back into my shop and updated all the titles. They do sound silly, but hopefully they will get more hits. I've just started paying attention to the stats, so hopefully I'll start getting some useful data.

      Really, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

  2. I've been on etsy for a while and although I don't have the time to commit to an awesome shop, I've taken advantage of all the videos they have and they were all extremely helpful! they have past seminars up there too. I would also take advantage of finding a good team. they're easy to join and often they cross promote each other's stuff. I'm so excited for you! Good luck :D

    1. I'm not quite sure about how to join the teams yet... there are a lot out there and I don't know where I fit exactly. Hopefully that stuff will get easier the more acquainted I get with Etsy.

Oh, and you better believe that I am waiting for a good afternoon to watch ALL of their videos!

    1. Thanks! We took them at a local restaurant that used to be a laundromat. I love their color scheme. If it wasn't so incredibly bright, I would consider painting my house those colors!

    1. I was really nervous about the product photos. I know that they are so key to getting views and sales. Thank goodness my boyfriend helped me set up a light box and we took some good photos. I couldn't have done it myself. AT ALL.
