Best of 2012
The end of the year is sneaking up on me! The year-end round-up posts started popping up around the blogosphere and I realized I'm late to the party. And if there is anything I learned from watching Bravo, it is DON'T BE TARDY FOR THE PARTY. So, without further ado, in no particular order, here are some of my favorite outfits from the past year. Enjoy.

Best Music of 2012
I love music but I never write about it. There are people way more qualified than me out there to write about new music. I have my personal opinions but I never wanted to be a rock critic. First of all, I have no personal musical ability and I can't tell notes apart. I'm not the best at hearing a band and immediately being able to tell their influences. So, for what it's worth, in no particular order, this is a list of albums that I have enjoyed over the past year. I highly recommend that you give these a listen. And if there is anything out there that makes your list, please let me know!
DIIV: Oshin
Fiona Apple: The Idler Wheel...
Grimes: Visions
Chairlift: Something
DIIV: Oshin
Beach House: Bloom
Hot Chip: In Our Heads
Bat For Lashes: The Haunted Man
Dum Dum Girls: End of Daze EP
Icona Pop: The Iconic EP
Passion Pit: Gossamer
Rye Rye: Go! Pop! Bang!
Prinzhorn Dance School: Clay Class
King Tuff: King Tuff
Twin Shadow: Confess
Purity Ring: Shrines

Happy Holidays
Hello all! I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season. I'm on a slight blogging break this week spending much needed quality time with my parents. I'm beyond excited to hang around with them.
Much love to you and your families. xoxo -Lauren

Food Friday Asheville Edition: Sunny Point Cafe
I'm finally finishing up reviewing all the good food we had in Asheville! On our last morning we wanted to go out for a solid brunch. After searching the internet and yelp, we found Sunny Point Cafe. Not only was it highly rated, it was only 3 minutes from where we were staying! We arrived at about 10 and had a half hour wait. Once again, Asheville restaurants have the best service. We put our name on a list and got a buzzer and then went over to the outdoor coffee station to fill our cups. I love brunch joints that have good coffee for those that are waiting.
While we were waiting we had a chance to walk around their garden. The back of the property is a giant vegetable garden where they grow food for the restaurant. You can't get any more farm-to-table than that! The garden setup was so nicely done that it lit a fire under my ass to take much better care of my garden next year. (I kind of slacked during the summer heat and massive mosquito influx).
Sunny Point was right on time and our buzzer went off within 5 minutes of our estimated wait. The inside of the restaurant was small, cozy and filled with lots of warm yellow hues. Their breakfast menu is filled with tons of really good options. I didn't know what I wanted at all- it was good option overload. Also, if you are vegetarian this place is very accommodating. They even offer a tofu chorizo option.
Steve and I surprisingly decided to get the same thing for breakfast. (This never happens!) We both ordered the huevos rancheros. And just to tell you why, just read Sunny Point's description of the dish: Savory black bean cakes served with Snow Creek chorizo sausage, feta cheese, roasted tomatillo salsa, and herb tossed red skin spuds topped with two free range eggs any style, cilantro crema, and crisp tortilla strips. Gosh that sounded so amazing! How could we not order it? This might have been my favorite version of huevos rancheros I've ever had. All of the flavors just mixed so well together and the nontraditional addition of the feta added a nice salty taste. The chorizo could have been spicier by my standards, but the tomatillo salsa added a good amount of heat. I don't think Steve and I talked much once the food was delivered. We could not stop shoveling this into our mouths.
The best part about Sunny Point is that you can order breakfast anytime! I could see myself coming back here for a light dinner and just ordering the huevos rancheros again. I think when I find something that is this good it's very hard for me to try something new off the menu. But I hope to be back in Asheville sometime soon and I will definitely be coming back to Sunny Point!

Holiday Portraits: The Best EVER
Yesterday I shared the pictures Steve and I snapped while we were waiting to shoot our friends holiday cards. See, our pictures are NOTHING compared to the ones that my sweet friends Lauren and Matt took. They always send out the best holiday cards, in which they dress in crazy tacky Christmas clothes. This year was no exception. They even brought along their sweet dog Charlie and put him in a tacky sweater. They basically look like something out of a Tim & Eric skit. Lauren is a fellow hula-hooper and a very talented hair stylist. I've been going to her for years and she is honestly the best. If you live in the Nashville area you should hit her up. Enjoy this awesome couple and their amazing tackiness!
This was the card that we got in the mail. Steve designed the text & frame and it became the most horrendously awesome thing ever. I love it!

Holiday Portraits
A few weekends ago Steve set up a mini portrait studio in his apartment and we took some holiday pictures of some of our favorite people. But of course, we tested the set up on ourselves first! Enjoy!

Etsy: Twin Peaks Roundup
I'm a crazy Twin Peaks fan. After Steve got me this lovely charm bracelet from Etsy I went looking for some other awesome hand-crafted Peaks goodness.
I love Lucy! Her voice is just so annoying that it becomes comforting. I guess sounding like a small child works for her. I love this print and all the tiny detail in it. I'm also rather fond of the selective use of color.
If you follow me on Instagram you will know that I've recently become obsessed with Shrinky Dinks. How cute is this log lady brooch? She also has a sick Dr. Jacoby one as well!
And keeping with the jewelry theme here is an owl cave pendant. Laser cut wood- how cool is that? I've been toying with the idea of getting the Twin Peaks/Black lodge/White Lodge symbol tattooed on me somewhere!
I love Audrey and all her teenage sex power. What better way to say "I know I'm rich, hot and a bitch" than wearing this Audrey Horne Pin set?
I really wish I could embroider. But since I haven't learned how yet, I'll covet this Dr. Jacoby Embroidery. Hang this over your bed and it's like ALOHA all the damn time.
And just as a bonus how cool is this illustration? I wish there was some way I could get my hands on it!
